Buying a ready-made powder with your label? You can skip this longer custom brief. Choose a product and quantity, then send a batch request. No account or finished label is needed to start.

A manufacturer can only price what you describe. A message that says "How much for a powder?" gets a slow reply and a wide range. A clear brief gets a number you can plan around. You do not need every answer. You do need to say what you know and what is still open.

For a custom powder, the OSM formula builder offers a shorter guided starting point. Use the checklist below when your project needs more detail or a different format.

The custom quote brief

Send as many of these as you can. Where you are unsure, say so. That helps too. The quantities and dates below are only examples of how to phrase an answer.

What to includeWhat a clear answer looks likeIf you do not know yet
1. The product"A flavored drink mix. One scoop in water."Describe how the customer will use it
2. Formula status"Full formula with amounts per serving", "ingredient list only" or "an idea"Name a product on the market that is close to what you want
3. Serving size and servings per container"10 gram scoop, 30 servings"Give the jar size you picture, or ask for a suggestion
4. Flavor and sweetener"One flavor, lemonade. No artificial colors."List two or three flavors you would consider
5. Things to avoid"No dairy. No added sugar."Say who the product is for
6. Packaging"Jar with lid, scoop and inner seal" or "stick packs in a box"Ask which standard options are available
7. Labels"I will send print ready art" or "please print and apply"Ask what label size the package takes
8. Quantity"First run of 500. Reorders around 1,000."Ask for prices at two or three quantities
9. Timing"In hand by March 1 for a trade show"Say "flexible" if it is. That can help
10. DeliveryCity, state and zip. Business or home. Loading dock or notAsk if pickup is possible
11. Who supplies what"I supply the labels. You supply everything else."Ask what the manufacturer normally supplies
12. Paperwork"Please tell me which documents come with the batch"Ask what is included as standard

Protect your formula first

If your formula is your secret, ask about a confidentiality agreement before you send amounts. Until then, you can share the ingredient list without quantities, or a general description. That is enough to start a conversation.

Questions to ask back

  • What exactly is included in this price, and what is not?
  • Is there a minimum per flavor or per size?
  • How long is the quote good for?
  • What do I need to approve before production starts?
  • What happens if an ingredient or a package is not available?
  • What are the payment terms?
  • How do reorders work, and can the price change?
  • How is shipping quoted?

Formula: [full formula, ingredient list or idea. Or a product that is close]

Serving: [scoop size] and [servings per container]

Flavor: [flavor], with [any limits]

Packaging: [jar, lid, scoop, seal, or another format]

Labels: [I supply, or please print and apply]

Quantity: please quote [A], [B] and [C] units

Timing: needed by [date] because [reason]

Still open: [what you are unsure about]

What a good quote gives you

A useful quote states the price per unit at each quantity, what is included, what you must supply, the steps before production, the expected timing and how shipping is handled. If one of these is missing, ask. Compare quotes line by line, not only by the bottom number.

Asking OSM

OSM makes powders in jars, stick packs and pouches, along with capsules, tablets and creams. The manufacturing page has the full list. Minimums, pricing and timing depend on the project and are confirmed with your quote. If you would like a smaller start with a premade product, look at the white label range instead.

When your brief is ready, send it through the contact page.

Common questions

Do I need a finished formula to ask for a quote?

No. An idea or a product you like is enough to start. The quote gets firmer as the formula gets settled.

Should I share my budget?

If you have a target cost per unit, say so. It helps the manufacturer suggest choices that fit, such as a different jar or quantity.

How many manufacturers should I ask?

Two or three is plenty. Send each one the same brief so you can compare fairly.
